Deep in the bayou
Down by the river
Between the live oaks
And Spanish moss
There lives a soul
Connected to all that is dead
And all that is alive
Crossing the boundaries
Between real and imagined
She walks with careful steps
A ruined memory
And a scarred body
Those no longer living
Wait on her for hope
Living for the moment
When she will once more see
Blinded by the dark
And caged by the fear
She lives without hope
Of saving what once was
Nobody knows
Nobody sees
Nobody hears
Nobody but her.
